These Girodisc D1-309 front replacement braking surfaces allow you to replace the braking surfaces on your Audi A4 (B6 and B7) with GIRODISC bowl-style rotors and Brembo 18Z conversion (2000–2009), Audi S4 (B5, B6, and B7) with Brembo 18Z conversion (1997–2009), Audi A6 (C5) and allroad with Brembo 18Z conversion (1997–2004), while retaining the compatible rotors after inspection. These cast-iron tracks maintain the floating mounting’s functionality and facilitate maintenance of a braking system subjected to repeated stress. Sold in pairs, without rotors.

The curved internal cooling fins channel air through the disc to dissipate heat during repeated braking. The floating mounting limits stresses caused by thermal expansion differences between the rotor and the caliper housing and helps the rotor center itself between the brake pads, maintaining consistent contact when hot.

New brake pads must be installed with new rotors or brake discs. Their shape and compound must match the mounting configuration, cast material, and intended use; adhere to the specific requirements of this part number and perform the prescribed break-in procedure.

For use with the Brembo 18Z 6-piston caliper conversion. This part number is intended for a vehicle already equipped with this conversion; it does not replace the rotors on a standard Audi setup that retains its original calipers. Brembo calipers are not included. Confirm mounting brackets, clearances, and engine restrictions for the installation before ordering.

Brake pads and braking systems for compatible vehicles

Choose brake pads whose shape is compatible with the calipers, track, and/or D1-309 rotors, and whose compound is suitable for sport driving or track use. The Endless, pagid Racing, or Ferodo Racing ranges may be considered after verifying the appropriate part number.

For intensive use, we recommend compatible aviation-grade hoses and high-performance brake fluid that meets the vehicle’s specifications, along with proper bleeding and fluid replacement. This recommendation complements a mounting compatible with the original hydraulic system.

Maintenance of the Girodisc mounting on compatible vehicles

When worn, replace the pads with the part number compatible with your existing rotors. Reusing a rotor for up to three pad replacements is subject to inspection of its condition, its mounting components, and the mounting instructions; this number does not constitute a guaranteed service life. Use a new mounting component each time you replace the pads.

FAQ — Girodisc D1-309 for compatible vehicles

Is the product sold in pairs? Yes. It includes a left and a right component for the same axle. The brake rotors are not included.

Do I need to replace my vehicle’s brake pads?Yes. Always install new brake pads with new rotors or new braking surfaces. Use a compound suitable for cast iron and your intended use. Only S4 B5 and A6/Allroad C5 models with a 2.7-liter twin-turbo engine equipped with Brembo 18Z calipers. Models with a 4.2-liter V8 engine are excluded. Do not order for any other A4/S4 model without technical approval.

How do you identify the left and right sides? Girodisc rotors come with a label attached to each rotor: LEFT for the left side and RIGHT for the right side, as viewed from the direction of travel. On a left-hand-drive vehicle, “LEFT” corresponds to the driver’s side and “RIGHT” to the passenger side. Follow these labels and the instructions. On models with curved internal vanes, the rolling direction depends on this internal ventilation; the surface grooves alone are not sufficient to determine the side.

How do I break in the mounting on my vehicle? Follow the Girodisc procedure and the brake pad manufacturer’s instructions to build an even transfer ply. The PDF documents below detail the mounting and break-in process.

Is this part compatible with original Audi calipers? No. It is intended for a mounting that has already been converted to use Brembo 18Z 6-piston calipers. The calipers are not included with the rotors. Check your vehicle’s actual configuration and the listed restrictions before ordering.
