Engine Gaskets 

Engine gaskets are essential to the smooth running and long life of any internal combustion engine. Their main role is to ensure a seal between the various mechanical parts in contact to prevent leakage of fluids (oil,coolant) and gases (compression, exhaust). They also ensure that each circuit - lubrication, cooling and combustion - remains isolated to avoid any mixing that could be detrimental to engine performance.
There are different types of engine gasket : cylinder head gasket, spi gasket, valve stem gasket, crankcase gasket, etc., each with a specific function in the engine operating chain. If worn, a faulty gasket can lead to power loss, overheating, leaks or event engine failure.
In competition or intensive use, the termal and mechanical stresses are greater, hence the need to use trussed or higher quality seals.
