What does this coil do?

RacingLine ignition coils are a direct plug-and-play upgrade for your stock ignition coils. Whether your engine is stock or Stage 3 tuned, it will immediately benefit from increased power and a stronger, more consistent ignition spark generated by a set of these RacingLine coils.

RacingLine high-performance ignition coils offer a 10% increase in output power compared to the original equipment. This high performance is perfect for drivers looking to maximize their car’s performance, whether it’s stock or modified.

RacingLine chose a 10% increase in output power because this is the optimal level of increase for VWG TSI engines. Beyond this, no additional benefits are gained, and the internal temperatures of the coil begin to rise significantly.
 

Thus, at this level, the coil voltage under load is maintained with little or no drop, operating consistently from idle through to the point of gear change.

The replacement is particularly beneficial on older engines that still use the original coils. A new set of coils is an excellent preventive maintenance measure to avoid the risk of misfires caused by ageing and gradual degradation of the original coils.

Mounting couldn’t be easier. It’s a simple “plug-and-play” replacement. Remove the original coils and replace them with these higher-performance versions.

What does the coil do?

The function of a coil is to transform the 12-volt output from the car’s battery into a much higher voltage. This amplified electrical power provides a more reliable power source for your spark plugs, improving engine performance by igniting the fuel-air mixture more efficiently.

Developing and optimizing a coil’s power levels was a key step in ensuring control over operating temperatures. Throughout the coil pack’s lifespan, this thermal management will help prevent future failures.

Coils that generate more than 10% more power than the original equipment overheat and deteriorate over time. RacingLine has therefore increased the power output gain to a level that will allow the coils to remain as cool as possible for as long as possible.

This level of increase represents the “sweet spot” where the diminishing returns of the additional power that can benefit spark power are balanced against the rapid rise in internal temperatures, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
