The camshaft is a key part of your engine, enabling you to significantly increase the performance of your competition vehicle.

When tuning, you can modify two characteristics derived from the shape of the camshaft: valve lift and valve opening angle (duration).

The higher the valve lift, the more air-fuel mixture is admitted to the cylinders, and therefore the more power is obtained at high revs.

The greater the valve opening angle, the greater the "air current" created, which encourages the air-fuel mixture to enter the cylinder: this helps get more air-fuel mixture into the cylinders, and therefore more power.
