Critérium des Cévennes 1982-2023

After a first book on the Critérium des Cévennes 1954-1981 covering the first 25 editions, published at the end of 2020, it was logical to continue from 1982 until the 64th edition in 2023. The years 1982-2001 are covered in depth on eight pages, often 14 pages each, while those from 2002 to 2023 are covered on two pages per edition.

Jacques Privat, who had already written a book on the Ronde Cévenole 1967-1979 (published by the same firm), then went on to cover the Critérium des Cévennes (1954-1981), always with the same meticulous attention to detail, dealing with each edition in turn, with comprehensive tables showing the scratch rankings and withdrawals, complete technical data sheets, a huge number of photos with long captions, plus a running text describing the forces at work, changes to the regulations, new features, etc., as well as numerous ‘Vélo’ boxes. Not to mention the many ‘Real-life’ boxes on new cars, new teams, promotional formulas, etc. The publisher was responsible for the choice of iconography from among the many photos of professionals and amateurs.
