This Milltek SSXBM1407 particle filter removal kit replaces the gasoline particle filters in the BMW M5’s exhaust line. These filters help reduce particulate emissions but also dampen some of the sound produced by the 4.4 V8 Twin Turbo Hybrid engine.
By removing the stock filter elements, this setup reduces restrictions in the intermediate exhaust section. It promotes a more pronounced and expressive sound, while allowing for freer exhaust gas flow. The result depends on the complete exhaust configuration and engine management.
The system includes DPF bypass manifolds combined with an active H-pipe section. This design connects the two exhaust branches and alters the interactions between the V8 engine’s exhaust gas pulses, thereby helping to evolve its sound signature.
With a diameter of 80 mm, this Milltek section is designed to connect to the stock downpipes and a compatible Milltek Axle-Back exhaust line. In particular, it can be paired with the Milltek SSXBM1404 Axle-Back with valves and GT115 brushed titanium tailpipes.
Important: Removing the GPF/OPF filters requires engine remapping or adjustment of the electronics after installation. Without proper adjustment, this modification may cause engine malfunctions.
