What does this coil do?

RacingLine ignition coils are a direct plug-and-play upgrade to your original ignition coils. Whether your engine is standard or Stage 3 upgraded, it will immediately benefit from greater power output and a stronger, more consistent spark generated by a set of RacingLine coils.

RacingLine high-output ignition coils offer a 10% increase in output energy compared to the original equipment. This high output is perfect for drivers looking to maximize the performance of their car, whether it is stock or modified.

RacingLine chose a 10% increase in output energy because this is the optimal level of increase for VWG TSI engines. Beyond this, no additional benefits are gained and the internal temperatures of the coil begin to rise significantly.

Thus, at this level, the coil voltage under load is maintained with little or no drop, operating consistently from idle to the point of gear change.

Replacement is especially useful on older engines that still use the original coils. A new set of coils is an excellent preventive maintenance measure to avoid the risk of misfires caused by aging and gradual degradation of the original coils.

Installation couldn't be easier. It's a simple plug-and-play replacement. Remove the original coils and replace them with these higher-performance versions.

What does the coil do?

The function of a coil is to transform the 12-volt output of the car battery into a much higher voltage. This intensified electrical energy provides a more reliable source for your spark plug to operate, improving engine performance by more efficiently igniting the fuel and air mixture.

Developing and optimizing the energy levels of a coil has been a key operation in ensuring control of operating temperatures. Throughout the coil pack's life cycle, this thermal management will help prevent future failures.

Coils that generate more than 10% more energy than the original equipment overheat and deteriorate over time. RacingLine has therefore increased the energy output gain to a level that will allow the coils to remain as cool as possible for as long as possible.

This level of increase represents the “sweet spot” of diminishing returns in the amount of additional energy that can benefit spark strength versus rapidly increasing internal temperatures for long-term reliability and performance.
