EVALUATION OF OEM INTAKE
The original intake filter media, inlet/outlet dimensions and internal volumes of the original air box covers/intake connection pipe were all specifically targeted by the Pipercross engineering team as areas for improving the system's air flow capacity. Conversely, the lower halves of the original airbox and the turbocharger inlet elbows were deemed sufficient to support the kit's airflow increase objectives; based on the M-level engineering efforts of the original equipment, the specific size/functionality of the parts, and the experience/knowledge of Pipercross engineers in terms of overall intake design.

PANEL FILTERS PLUS
The heart of the G8X AirMax kit is Pipercross' flagship panel filter, the Pipercross Plus. These filters feature a custom-made hybrid multi-laminated filtration foam to achieve the optimal balance between increased flow and air filtration. In addition, the Plus filter range features an industry-first 0.9 mm thick CNC laser-cut stainless steel support frame that increases effective airflow by 22.1% compared to conventional mesh support frames.

AIRBOX COVERS
Pipercross G8X AirMax covers allow the full airflow potential of Plus panel filters to be utilised. These covers have been precision engineered to achieve better post-filter flow dynamics, have a larger internal post-filter air volume and utilise larger air outlets, all without compromising the original mounting standards. The geometry favouring the flow and the increased internal volume promote the natural formation of a laminar air flow in each air box, which considerably increases the flow of filtered air compared to the original equipment. The 98 mm inner diameter outlets offer a size increase of 24.02% compared to the original right-side lid outlet and 75.03% compared to the original left-side lid outlet, these increases perfectly complementing the changes in geometry and volume. Each AirMax lid also has an aluminium ring bonded into the outlet connection area, ensuring that continuous loading and high engine bay temperatures have no effect on the structural integrity of the outlets. Carbon fibre designs are distinguished by their ‘form follows function’ aesthetic, with directional airflow channels that integrate seamlessly into the S58's high-performance engine compartment.

INTAKE HOSE
The Pipercross G8X AirMax intake hose complements the performance of the right airbox cover and takes the flow capacity of the entire kit to the next level. The carbon intake hose was designed with one goal in mind: to optimise the internal flow volume in the S58 engine compartment cavity. This increase in volume allows for maximum laminar airflow (and therefore maximum airflow) in the available space. The Pipercross part achieves this without compromising the original fit standards or proper clearances, by taking full advantage of carbon manufacturing to create indentations and transverse transitions with favourable flow geometry.

SILICONE HOSES
All silicone hoses have smooth internal bores, flow-adapted transition fittings and a 5-layer wall structure, which allows perfect motor decoupling without the air flow destabilisation associated with conventional corrugated or bellows hoses. The left pipe has been specially designed to maximise air volume and speed in the tight elbow of the air box outlet. With a constant tapered design, reducing to match the inner diameter of the turbo inlet with a stepped interior for precise geometry to suit the flow.

MOUNTING MATERIAL
The two turbocharger couplings are CNC-machined from aluminium to strict standards of dimensions and finish, then anodised to guarantee a perfect fit and functional durability for the entire lifespan of the vehicle. Similarly, only stainless steel components are used to ensure that corrosion, oil and other adverse environmental factors in the engine compartment have no effect on the operation or appearance of the Pipercross kit. The machined spacers that house the mounting screws have been designed to mimic the same spacing as the original cover to ensure a perfect fit and compression of the Pipercross PLUS panel.
