The KONI Special Active range use the FSD technology created by KONI
The main issue of damper designing is the compromise between comfort and handling performances.
In deed, the needs and the solutions for one are antagonist with other one. A car with a precise steering and a high grip will be less comfortable. As a car with a very nice comfort will have more roll and pitch movement and less grip.
The reason is in the damping resistance, for comfort, it has to be low resistance, and for performances it has to be highly resistant.
The road imperfection and body movement are treated by the damper like frequential phenomena. The comfort needs low damping of high frequency movements, and performances need high damping of low frequency movements.
OEM and standard dampers have only one damping value for all frequencies.

Sport and Premium car manufacturers have designed complicated and very expensive electro-mechanical dampers and suspension systems to offer dynamical adjusted damping performances, but are expensive and need a lot of device and onboard equipment, that are more weight and failure sources.

KONI developed a new technology 100% mechanical and without any complementary equipment, the dampers have the dimensions on the OEM ones. The magic is inside the dampers, the valve design and assembly.
The FSD system (frequency selective damping) is a valve system that allow a dynamical variation of the damping resistant effort depending on the movement frequency. So, the high frequencies can be correctly « filtered » for a nice comfort, while the low frequencies (like pitch or roll movement) are perfectly dampened in order to limit load transfers.
The Special Active range is a perfect choice for comfort, precision and performances.
